Choosing a Caesarean

According to one study, the number of planned Caesarean section (without medical reason) increased to 30% in recent years. Here's why: Women feel more comfortable with a scheduled birth, and can avoid the pain when giving birth. Some women are also afraid of not being able to control urination after giving birth via the vagina, although recent research shows it actually triggered by genetic factors.

American College of obstetricians and Gynecologists allow women to make choices as long as they are fully aware of risks to be faced, such as the possibility of experiencing complications from surgery, as well as the recovery process is longer and more painful. Women who plan to have more than two children should avoid Caesarean section, according to the National Institutes of Health, because the scars caused by the operation would create a similar operation later at high risk.

"I did not refuse to do it, but I want to know the reasons behind their desire. So, I suggested that they ask the opinion of another doctor, "said Jacques Moritz, MD, director of the division of gynecology at St.. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, New York City. If you are considering to schedule a Caesarean section, talk with your obstetrician before deciding. This is major surgery, you should consider it seriously!
